"The golf course is challenging, but fair... It is very player friendly... No hidden tricks or gimmicks here."
The Golden Golf Club is an appealing combination of beautifully maintained fairways and untouched wilderness. West of Banff and Lake Louise, Golden is situated in the Columbia Valley between the famous Rocky and the Purcell mountain ranges. Several holes are routed along the bank of the Columbia River, and from many parts of the course a person can view the lush slopes of the Kicking Horse resort.
The course was built in two phases. Bill Newis designed the front nine, a stunning course which opened in 1986. In 1996 Les Furber created the back nine, which is arguably his finest 9-hole layout. Although different architects designed the two nines, they complement each other perfectly.
Our signature hole, the eleventh, showcases the beautiful environment and the fair challenges that make the course so enjoyable. The tee overlooks the refreshing waters of Holt Creek, powerful enough that the calming sound resonates through most of the back nine. The Rockies are a spectacular backdrop as you watch your ball sail down the tree-lined fairway and across the creek, a picture-perfect setting.
As a club, we take great pride in the fact that there are no residences on, or around the golf course; instead, each hole is almost entirely lined by natural forest. The course has no boundary markers or out of bounds. If you can find your ball, it is in play.
Be sure to bring your camera. It is very common to sight wildlife such as eagles, osprey, coyotes, deer, and black bears during a round of golf.
The playability and natural beauty of our course provide the ideal setting for a memorable experience. For the best of BC, golf at the Golden Golf Club--the perfect spot to get away from it all.
This beautiful and serene location is 2,592 feet above sea level.
