A few words about me...
I have worked as a freelance artist/designer for the past 30 years.
I live with my wife and children in the beautiful, semi-desert South Okanagan Valley in south central British Columbia, just outside the picturesque city of Penticton... ( a Salish word meaning " A place to stay forever" )
My work covers a broad range of styles and media but visual "impact " is really the goal of most commercial art applications.
This is especially true of mural work, a public art form that I enjoy tremendously. I have completed 25 mural projects in BC, Albert and Ontario over the past ten years. Composition, colour and contrast are what will create an eye-catching piece and set a good mural apart from the rest.
My passion for Architecture and design has led me to another favourite pursuit ... that of architectural illustration. Here, as with my mural work, I use a slightly loose, impressionist style that evokes an emotional impact while maintaining a strong sense of realism through accuracy, colour and shadow.
The first twenty years of my career were spent perfecting traditional illustration skills in media such as Pen & ink, Watercolour and airbrush. The skills and disciplines learned over those years have
served me well in the computer age.
While I still use those techniques to various degrees, computer graphics has replaced much of the traditional work. I use Adobe Photoshop extensively for raster based illustration and Adobe
Illustrator and Streamline for vector applications. I e-mail art files to clients around the globe.
A computer is merely another tool and the quality of the artwork depends very much on the skill of the artist.
