The abc Country food adventure began in Cranbrook, British Columbia in 1972, where home-made pies, and genuine, old-fashioned hospitality drew regulars, and spawned a concept that kept on growing.
Over the years, abc Country Restaurants expanded from its Kootenay beginnings, into BC’s Fraser Valley, to Vancouver Island, to welcoming destinations in the province’s interior, to the big cities and smaller centres of Alberta. Proudly Canadian, it has always been able to hold true to its comfortable country niche, even as it evolves to stay close to its chosen market and changing restaurant times.
abc Country is proud of the way its restaurants look and feel. Hints of ‘country’, the lighting, architecture and design—all under the direction of Vice President and veteran operator John Harper—give each location a stylish, comfortable, sense of place in the community it serves.
The restaurants appeal to a broad cross section of patrons—from families out for Sunday dinner with the kids and grandparents; to couples and friends heading out for a casual get-together; for breakfast-in-a-hurry to start the day.
A big part of abc's success has been its food. We're committed to quality, to fresh, unique, in-house products; hearty, home-style portions, everything that adds up to what ‘Good Food Country’ really means.
abc’s eggs bennies are famous, but so too is our pulled pork sandwich, our fish and chips, our pot roast dinner. And the desserts! We’ve never forgotten our roots.
abc Country continues to expand. Under the direction of President Gordon Beattie, abc's growth has earned it a position as one of Canada's leading family restaurant chains.
We're based right here in the West, and employ more than 1500 proud people. The company’s head office and training centre is located on Fraser Highway in Surrey, where a support staff in Food & Beverage, Operations, Training, Marketing and Administration help shape future growth.
Dedicated, caring people. A team that’s enthusiastic about our continuing journey down a very special country road.
